Still waters, deep thoughts is a book of short stories written by Aaron Davies.
The book consists of eight short stories in which varied characters explore life journeys. Whether lasting a day or years, the stories bring the characters into life full with emotions, thoughts, and their living environments.
The author had a vision of a bookcase in a forest, where a reader could select a book to read next. I adapted the vision to include a Nordic style fir forest with a deep red skyline, changing then to a sky ranging from gold-on-deep-blue to light blue to off-white.
The book cover was created with oils, pencil and 23ct gold leaf on canvas; digitised with iPhone 11 and finished and compiled with Adobe Photoshop. The original cover was designed for the Kindle book (thus this golden line around the image), and was also used without the golden line for the paperback version.
